Dr. Bronner's Do It Yourself Non-Toxic Handsoap

You know I always say an informed consumer is a smart one. This is the main reason I love doing this blog with you is to share what I have learned with my very own journey. My goal is to always share in a thoughtful way so that you leave feeling EMPOWERED, not overwhelmed. I hope you find this useful!

I know that switching your home to a non-toxic one can be overwhelming, but it shouldn't be!  It is all about taking one step at a time. Here is one you can do this week!

Hand Soap Swap - why?

Many hand soaps have potentially harmful ingredients in them, and just think of how many times you are washing your hands in a day… it adds up. Many contain:

Fragrance: can contain hundreds of ingredients, including those a company doesn't want you to know about

Parabens: a preservative that acts like a hormone disruptor in the body.  It has been found in breast milk, too, so it can be passed on

SLS/SLES: give soap that lather component, but it is a known irritant as well as moderate concern for organ toxicity and more.

But you may say, I need a strong soap…

Most experts in the field say good old scrubbing and washing for at least the length of the Happy Birthday song will do the trick, you don't need any toxic ingredients.

 My recommendation

Castile soap (my fav is Dr. Bronners) is a super cost effective hand soap for your bathrooms and kitchen.  Get a hand soap dispenser, fill the bottle (my favorite glass bottle here!) with a ¼ cup or so of castile soap then the rest with water.  All done!

Sending you love,

Angie
