Our skin is our largest organ, and it takes approximately 26 Seconds for the stuff you put on your skin to enter your bloodstream. Did you know - Our skin is our body’s largest organ, and what you put on it can affect you in good and bad ways. Just think about Nicotine patches for those trying to quit smoking. Patches are applied directly to the skin and hopeful quitters can get their hit from the patch, which delivers Nicotine to them via their bloodstream.
It happens quickly, too. It’s been reported recently that it takes only 26 seconds for what you apply to your skin to be absorbed into your bloodstream.
This would be ok, if what we were putting on our skin was safe, healthy and superb for our wellbeing. But, there is no concrete definition of what is Natural when it comes to the beauty industry and reason for more concern is that there is no regulatory body overseeing it. Which means, anyone can put something in a bottle, tube or pot and call it natural, non-toxic or green…. And the sad thing is, that they do.

I’m super excited to be sharing on the blog about Beautycounter’s Shampoo & Conditioner Review. You may not know this about me, but when I was on the quest to find a safer shampoo and conditioner, I was blown away by well it worked! There have been so many brands that are considered natural or clean, but they did not perform to my liking and left my hair feeling dry and brittle. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the revamped packaging of their shower essentials line, along with the performance of the formulas. The body line has recently been repacked with elevated packaging as of January 2022. Beautycounter has an earth friendly goal to make ALL of their packaging either recyclable, refillable, reusable, or compostable by 2025. Slowly but surely, you’re going to see a sustainability initiative woven into each & every one of our products!
FUN FACT:
This was the very first product I tried from Beautycounter! This is preciously what got me hooked on the brand. I thought to myself if they can get this right, I can’t wait to try the skincare lines!
Beautycounter Shampoo is truly the best clean shampoo I’ve ever tried! What blew me away was that it actually had a lather, whereas a lot of clean beauty shampoos do not, and I always struggled with dryness. With Beautycounter I don’t, and it made my scalp feel so good too, cleansed and refreshed! It smells amazing thanks to the happy and fresh grapefruit scent, plus I have long hair, and it creates nice waves too! I’m able to keep a curl without weighing down my hair. I wash my hair every 3-4 days. I work out every day, so typically by day 3 I’m ready for a good scrub. Not only that, but I love that my Beautycounter shampoo doesn’t contribute to any buildup on my scalp, it doesn’t irritate my scalp, which was important to me.
With the updated packaging, on the body line, the daily shampoo is now refillable! When you run out, simply recycle the aluminum bottle & hang onto the pump. You’ll want to reuse the pump on your shampoo refill. Can you imagine how many pumps we are able to save? Plus not only that, but having a refillable bottle without the pump decreases fossil fuel use by an estimated 13%, relative to purchasing a complete product. Whoa!

Daily Conditioner in Bright Grapefruit
I love the Beautycounter’s Daily Conditioner just as much as the shampoo! It smells amazing thanks to the happy and fresh grapefruit scent, but it’s really an amazing product for nourishing & detangling your hair. I have really long hair, so I need a conditioner that can detangle my hair without it feeling like I’m pulling or tugging at my strands. Thanks to the conditioning provitamin B5, which is one of the featured ingredients, it detangles like a charm! The formula of this conditioner doesn’t weigh down my hair, and a little goes a long way. My experience, outside of Beautycounter’s Daily Conditioner, is I’ve had to use MUCH more product to get the same effect. Play with the amount for your own specific hair type, but for me, I use about two nickle size amounts.
And just like the Daily Shampoo, this Daily Conditioner is refillable! When you run out, simply recycle the aluminum bottle & hang onto the pump! You’ll want to reuse the pump on your conditioner refill!

Balm For All
Those of you who loved the baby balm, don’t worry we still have it, but it was repacked as the Balm For All since everyone can benefit from it! It is still as amazing, and you can still use on your gorgeous babies! I just started using this balm within the past couple of months with the dryer months here, this has been a true savior to my dry feet and cuticles. I’ve started to apply this balm to my feet every night, and cuticles, and it’s been helping so much! Not only that, but I was getting so many hang nails and really wanted to alleviate them because they do hurt at times! The formula is extremely soothing (why it’s so good for babies!) and is designed to help relieve chapped, cracked, and irritated skin! Since it’s so gentle, you won’t have any issues applying it on delicate areas like your lips and eyelids! Such a great multipurpose product for the whole family.
All the body care products were repackaged, so this product is made from approximately 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin that comes from curbside recycling programs, which is so wonderful. Beautycounter has incorporated PCR into many of our product packaging tubes and bottles over the past year, which makes me so happy!

In 2020, we had this gorgeous clear frosted glass packaging, launch for 2020 Holiday Collection. Everyone, including myself, went absolutely crazy about it! As of January 2022, they’re back as a part of our core line in BEAUTIFUL new glass bottles! The formula of this Softening Hand Lotion & Hand Wash is sumptuous. I use the hand lotion every single day, it’s right next to sinks within my home, and it’s really lightweight but yet super hydrating, non-greasy, and actually doubles as an amazing body moisturizer. The Hand Wash smells so good, just like the hand lotion, which will gently cleanse your hands while not stripping away any moisture from the skin. Both come in a beautiful glass bottle and have a Soft Neroli scent, which smells refreshing and lively! It’s not strong at all, just the right amount of moisture and scent!

P.S. Any product you use on a regular basis should be cleaned often (psst: your beauty cabinet will look and feel much nicer when you’re finished, too). So, grab the soap, a little water, and get cleansing. As you clean, be sure to check each period-after-opening (PAO) symbol while you’re at it. Beautycounter products specify the number of months that you can expect them to be safe for use. Look for a tiny period-after-opening (PAO) symbol of an open lid pot with a note like “12M”, which means the product’s lifespan is 12 months from the time you open it if it’s been stored and used properly. You may be due to replace some of your old #betterbeauty—which will make it, well, even better.
