Beautycounter All Bright Brightening Facial Oil Review

BRIGHTEN SKIN WITH VITAMIN C

Looking to give your skin a healthy glow? Vitamin C may be the answer! This powerful nutrient has many benefits for the skin, including reducing wrinkles and age spots, and helping brighten skin tone.

This was a citrus BOOST I never knew I needed, until I saw and experience the results myself!

Beautycounter All Bright Brightening Facial Oil Review

I was never an oil girl, EVER, I had this belief that if I used oil on my face, my face would break out and I would experience even more acne with my sensitive skin. I would break out from everything and anything I would put on my face until I found Beautycounter. Do you add an oil to your skincare regimen? This has been a question I’ve received a few times from people who are looking to add an oil to their skincare routine. I, for one, always thought it was for dried out skin that was thirsty for oil. But it turns out, there’s oils and formulas that are for EVERY skin type. You just have to find the RIGHT one for YOU.

Some oils add in more hydration and fatty acids to help improve skin texture, elasticity and also add moisture like crazy. There are some that help to brighten and encourage cellular turnover. Then there’s some that help to regulate those of you who may be oily and/or acne prone, which this is my to a T! As I mentioned, my usual thought process behind a face oil is to add more oil to your skin that lacks it. Or to lock in moisture and create a barrier. So, I figured, it’s really ideal for people with dry skin. But there are a lot of different oils, and they all have different uses and benefits. Some help to pull out oils if you’re oily, while others help to build barriers and help to keep moisture in. One of the many perks I learned during my journey of being a Beautycounter consultant.

Beautycounter has quickly become a go-to beauty and skincare brand that I love. So much so, that I signed up to be a consultant two and half years ago and have been so happy. It simply made sense between the blog, coaching clients weekly and recommending safer beauty and Instagram and wanting to get behind a company who’s making big changed in the world. I was part of that change in Washington, DC this past April.

I am serious about taking good care of my skin and weekly, I get asked what my skincare routine looks like.

If you want a personalized skincare recommendation, fill out my skincare questionnaire, and I’ll email you back, or you can email at angie@angiebloom.com. I know the Beautycounter skincare and makeup lines best, but if I think products from other brands will work well for you, I’ll share those too - I like to keep it real here over at Angiebloom.com and if there are other products that would be a better fit for you, you better believe I will share that with you!.

All Bright Brightening Facial Oil, is to be used AFTER you cleanse your skin and before you apply a moisturizer or if you’re like me and like to kill two birds with one stone, I add 4-6 drops to my moisturizer and apply all over my skin, including my neck. Here are my specific steps:

Step 1: Start by washing and pat dry your face. I like to double cleanse at night, so I highly encourage you to try it! You want to be sure that your face is super clean. The benefit of double cleansing is that the first cleanser will break down any makeup, remove dirt and excess oils from the day and clean your skin. The second cleanser will address your particular skin type or concern and should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate and treat acne. I like to use this cleansing oil which is amazing for removing makeup, and then second with the clear pore cleanser which is amazing at removing impurities from your pores.

Step 2: Once your skin is dry, add five to six pumps, I typically use six, of the AHA Toner to a cotton pad, and apply it to your face and neck (and chest if you like). It's best applied by saturating a cotton ball or cotton round with the formula and gently blotting the skin. It may tingle a bit when you first apply it, and some people notice a little redness when they first apply it, this is due to the acids that are working on your skin.

Step 3: Apply your serum, over the top.

Step 4: Use your favorite moisturizer whether it’s am or pm and add 4-6 drops of your favorite facial oil and apply all over face. EASY, right?!

Here I added 4-6 drops to my moisturizer in hand and will apply all over my face and neck.

NOTE: Play with the amount of oil or drops you feel YOUR skin needs. I started with 1-2 and slowly tittered up to allow my skin to adjust, since I had always broken out from anything oil on my face, but not this time! Beautycounter WORKED.

FRESH TIP

Oils can clog pores if used incorrectly

Some oils are more comedogenic, or pore-clogging, and that can cause congestion and breakouts. I advise staying away from oils such as mineral oil, coconut oil, olive oil, and palm oil. So, what oils can you use? Look for non-comedogenic lightweight oils such as marula, hemp, safflower, sunflower, grapeseed, argan, avocado, sweet almond, and jojoba oil.

One of the many reasons I love Beautycounter, and I have written a lot more about how we test and measure what is safer for us, but as someone with chronic health issues and an autoimmune disease, I will only use skincare products that I know are good for my health.

Beautycounter’s All Bright Brightening Facial Oil is formulated without ethoxylated ingredients (including PEGs) due to their reproductive and developmental concerns. It’s also made without any dyes or fragrances.

Beautycounter is the only beauty company to third-party test for safety. They ban over 1,800+ harmful + questionable ingredients, ethically source ingredients, are committed to environmental sustainability, and have the strictest safety screening program to date. All of their products are formulated with the most vulnerable populations in mind, meaning that they are safe for everyone, including women who are both pregnant and breastfeeding. Their values of education, transparency, and advocacy align with mine, which is why I use, trust, and recommend Beautycounter always.

This oil is also vegan, Leaping Bunny certified and EWG certified. It’s also gluten-free! Being completely gluten-free myself, this is important to me to be using products that are gluten-free for my health.

Beautycounter’s All Bright Brightening Facial Oil also comes in glass packaging, which is not only better for the environment, but it also ensures that harmful chemicals and hormone disruptors won’t leach from the packaging into the product (which can happen with certain types of plastic packaging) - Yuck!

How is it different from the Beautycounter All Bright Vitamin C Serum?

Beautycounter also has an All Bright vitamin C Serum, which is amazing, but the difference is that the serum will be much more effective at brightening. I like to think of our oils at Beautycounter as a means of hydration and balancing your skin, then other factors like brightening and lighting are secondary. So if you are looking for a substantial amount of brightening & lightening, reducing dark spots, and/or improving dullness, you’ll want the new vitamin C serum rather than the Beautycounter Brightening Oil or you can add both for the Mack Daddy of lightening along with the AHA Toner. You can read more here and purchase All Bright Serum here!

P.S. Any product you use on a regular basis should be cleaned often (psst: your beauty cabinet will look and feel much nicer when you’re finished, too). So, grab the soap, a little water, and get cleansing. As you clean, be sure to check each period-after-opening (PAO) symbol while you’re at it. Beautycounter products specify the number of months that you can expect them to be safe for use. Look for a tiny period-after-opening (PAO) symbol of an open lid pot with a note like “12M”, which means the product’s lifespan is 12 months from the time you open it if it’s been stored and used properly. You may be due to replace some of your old #betterbeauty—which will make it, well, even better.
