Strawberry Overnight Oatmeal

I don’t know about you, but in the morning getting the kids to school and out the door for my workouts, I need something easy to grab and already prepped and ready to go. I swear overnight oats were made for this! It’s truly so easy, all you do it add a couple of ingredients, place in a glass or jar, and put in the fridge! You get to wake up with less stress and have a wholesome breakfast ready for you!

When I first began making overnight oats, I stuck to this recipe because I’m a creature of habit, but the beauty of overnight oats is that you can make them as simple or creative as you’d like. The base of this recipe is typically the same, then you add your toppings and fixings, and you’ve got yourself an amazing wholesome breakfast! Some of my favorite toppings are fresh fruit, spices (depending on my mood), nuts, seeds, jams, and so much more.

Why Eat a Wholesome Breakfast?

I love eating breakfast, in fact, it’s one of my favorite meals, for many reasons. Here’s why…. It’s quick, nutrient dense and one of my favorite parts is that it is rich in fiber, which promotes fullness, eases the insulin response, and benefits gut health. It's also a source of vitamins B and E, and minerals such as magnesium. Also, when you break your fast, you are on the right path of balanced blood sugars.

Oats Benefits For Skin

You know, I love my skincare routine so if you start to pay attention to the tags of a few of your lotions or face creams, you might find some contain oatmeal. Oatmeal is also beneficial for dry, itchy, irritated skin. Someone figured that out long ago, and what brilliance! Oat starch forms a barrier that allows the skin to retain moisture, while the rougher fibrous husk of the oat acts as a gentle exfoliant.

  • Oats soak up excess oil in your skin and help treat acne

  • Oats’ anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties treat dry skin and remove dead skin cells

  • Oats act as natural cleansers by removing dirt and oil and exfoliate the skin

It reminds of our new AHA Exfoliating Mask that uses bamboo for a natural external exfoliation. Oatmeal is very similar!

Oats Benefits For Face

It moisturizes, protects, exfoliates helping remove dead skin cells while acting as a moisturizer, and cleanses your skin. Oatmeal also helps boost collagen production, improves your skin complexion, and reduces skin inflammation. You can use it in your bath, use it to make a paste for a face mask, or use it as a gentle cleanser. All you need are 3 ingredients to make this mask! Combine 2 cups of oats, 1 cup of milk, and one tablespoon of honey in a mixing bowl. Apply it to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

Benefits of Masking:

  • Aid in acne treatment

  • Helps treat dry and itchy skin

  • Helps skin tone

  • Detox your skin

  • Unclog pores

  • Stimulate blood circulation

  • Encourage collagen production

  • Tighten your skin

  • Moisturize your skin

Help the rest of your skin care routine work better, so it’s a no-brainer! If you are like me and need the ease, similar to the overnight oatmeal recipe and don’t want to make your natural oatmeal mask, I highly recommended using our charcoal mask which is made from nutrient-rich kaolin clay mask with activated charcoal. Which purifies and balances, absorbing excess oil and drawing out impurities. It also combines salicylic and lactic acids which aid in a gentle exfoliation, giving skin a smooth, polished look with a minimized appearance of pores. Perfect for those concerned with congestion and oily skin. If you have pores that need some extra love and attention, I highly recommend this mask!
