As a personal trainer, I spend a lot of time talking about macros, rep ranges, and recovery protocols. But there is one foundational piece of the puzzle that often gets overlooked, even by my most dedicated private clients: hydration.
We all know we need to drink water. It’s the oldest health advice in the book. But the conversation usually stops at how much to drink. Today, I want to talk to you about how you are drinking it. Because if you are still sipping out of disposable plastic bottles, you might be undermining the very health goals you are working so hard to achieve.
Here is the lowdown on why true hydration is about quality, not just quantity, and why it’s time to upgrade your daily water habit.

Hydration is the key to optimal health, especially when it comes to maintaining your energy levels and powering through your workouts. While drinking water is essential, sometimes it’s not enough to replenish the electrolytes your body loses during exercise, travel, or even busy days. That’s where clean electrolytes come into play, they can take your hydration routine to the next level, improving not only your physical performance but also your overall well-being. Let’s dive in…
Why Electrolytes Matter
Electrolytes are minerals like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which help regulate essential functions in your body. For my clients who are training hard, hydration is the difference between a mediocre workout and a personal best. When you are properly hydrated:

Your energy stabilizes: Even mild dehydration can lead to brain fog and fatigue. If you are reaching for a 3 PM coffee, try a glass of water first.

But here is the catch: You can drink a gallon a day, but if that water is laced with microplastics and chemicals, your body has to work overtime to detoxify instead of thriving.

This might be hard to hear, but it’s the truth I share with all my coaching clients: Plastic water bottles have got to go.
You might grab them for convenience, but single-use plastics—and even some reusable plastic bottles—pose a significant hidden risk to your health. The primary culprit? Xenoestrogens.
What Are Xenoestrogens?
Many plastics contain chemicals that possess "estrogenic activity." This means that when they leach into your water (which happens faster when the bottle is warm, like in a hot car or gym bag), they mimic the hormone estrogen in your body.
When you ingest these chemicals, they can disrupt your natural hormonal balance. This is bad news for everyone, but especially for those of us focused on fitness and longevity.
