Health + Wellness
Beautycounter was my first real love when it came to clean beauty. It sparked my interest in learning more about skincare and finding products I felt good about using and sharing.
Today, I use a blend of Counter, formerly Beautycounter, and Oliveda and I love both brands equally. There are favorites from each that have a place in my routine.
If you’ve followed my skincare posts over the years, you’ve seen that journey. You can love a longtime favorite and discover something new that you love just as much. That’s exactly where I am with Counter and Oliveda.
For this post, I’m focusing on four of my favorite Counter skincare products: Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream, The Brightening Facial Oil, All Bright Vitamin C Serum, and Overnight Resurfacing Peel. If you’re wondering where to start with Counter skincare, these are the products I’d put on your list to explore.

Some of the posts linked below were written earlier in my skincare journey, including during Beautycounter’s closure. This post reflects where I am today: using and loving both brands. Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream for Rich Overnight Moisture
Supreme Cream is one of my ultimate favorites from Counter. If you’ve heard me talk about it before, you know this one has a special place on my list!
Counter describes it as a rich overnight cream that replenishes moisture and helps improve the appearance of firmness and fine lines. Its formula includes Tetrapeptide-21, bakuchiol, shea butter, and cocoa butter.
Consider this if: You enjoy a richer nighttime moisturizer. If you prefer a very light texture, take that preference into account before choosing a cream.

The Brightening Facial Oil for Added Moisture and Glow
The Brightening Facial Oil is another favorite I love sharing. A facial oil is a different option to consider when you want a little extra nourishment in your routine.
Counter’s current formula combines oils including marula, avocado, and black currant with a form of vitamin C. The brand describes it as lightweight and designed to moisturize and improve radiance. Its directions allow application alone or over moisturizer.
Consider this if: You enjoy facial oils and want a more luminous finish. If you dislike the feel of oil, a cream may better suit your preferences.
I’ve also written about this oil in my post on caring for your skin barrier, where I share more of my experience with facial oils and moisture.

All Bright Vitamin C Serum for Dullness and Uneven Tone
All Bright Vitamin C Serum is one of my Counter favorites for a routine focused on brighter-looking skin.
Counter describes this serum as a treatment for improving radiance and reducing the appearance of dark spots over time. The current formula contains two forms of vitamin C, along with camu camu and turmeric extracts.
Consider this if: Your main shopping concern is dullness or uneven-looking tone. If you already use a treatment you love from Oliveda, look at what it does before adding another serum with a similar purpose.
All Bright also appears in my earlier roundup of skincare treatments and sunscreen. That post shares how vitamin C became part of my daytime routine; the current product listing below is the reference for today’s formula.
Overnight Resurfacing Peel for Smoother-Looking Texture
Overnight Resurfacing Peel rounds out this list of Counter favorites. It’s an exfoliating treatment, so it serves a different purpose from a moisturizer or facial oil.
The formula uses exfoliating acids, including glycolic and lactic acids, to address dullness and uneven texture. Counter directs users to apply it to clean skin every other night and follow with moisturizer.
Consider this if: You’re looking for an exfoliation step. Follow the label, avoid layering multiple exfoliating treatments, and use sunscreen as directed during use and for a week afterward. If irritation persists, discontinue use.
Want to see why this became a longtime favorite? Read my Overnight Resurfacing Peel review and before-and-after photos. Those photos document my personal experience at the time; individual results vary.
How I Think About Using Counter and Oliveda Together
I love both brands equally, and my own routine includes a blend of the two. When I help someone choose products, I want to understand what they already use, what they enjoy, and what they feel is missing.
You might love your Oliveda cleanser and want to explore a Counter moisturizer. Or you might have Counter favorites you want to keep while learning more about Oliveda. Both are starting points for a conversation.
If you’re familiar with Beautycounter’s product names and want help navigating Oliveda, my Beautycounter-to-Oliveda product comparison guide can help you explore products by routine step. I originally wrote it when readers were searching for alternatives during Beautycounter’s closure. Today, I use it as a starting point for exploring the two brands, rather than a reason to replace everything you love. The products aren’t identical formulas or automatic one-for-one substitutes.
Mixing brands doesn’t mean layering every product together. Look at the role of each product, follow its directions, and pay particular attention to overlapping exfoliating treatments. A routine should be manageable enough that you enjoy using it consistently.
Which Counter Skincare Product Should You Start With
What you’re looking for Product to explore
A rich overnight moisturizer Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream
A facial oil for added moisture/radiance The Brightening Facial Oil
Dullness and uneven looking tone All Bright Vitamin C Serum
An exfoliating treatment for texture Overnight Resurfacing Peel
These products have different jobs. Start with the step your routine needs most, rather than feeling you need all four.
